' Yes, my dad is one of them. Writing here anonymously as I don’t want to reveal my identity and also I know I will get more bashing from you guys for this answer.

I’m now 22years old. In the year 1999, my dad lost his job in a cotton mill as supervisor. He has 6 siblings and he is the youngest of them. He left all his relatives in hometown and came to Bangalore with my mom and me.

I need to explain my dad’s characteristics here. He has entrepreneurial ability from childhood and a foodie by gene. He thought restaurant is the right profession for him and Bangalore was that time growing city with a lot of opportunities. He also knows my mom as a good cook. He also had some cash with him which my mom’s dad gave him as dowry.

With that cash he started a roadside 4 wheeler cart shop which sells only ‘Thatte idly’ along with chutneys and Sambar. In Bangalore, there are a lot of Tamilians and North Indians who likes Tamil style sambar which was very rare to get that time. Being a Tamilian, my dad makes that kind of Sambar and it was an instant hit it seems. IT people also started coming to our carts as my dad made sure the food served there is with good hygiene.

He soon opened a juice shop called ‘Ganesh juice corner’ and employed my dad’s siblings. Long story short in 7 years he managed to open 5 idly carts and 4 juice shops in the city. Till this time he never had a PAN card and never paid tax for his earnings. He is very generous and employed all our family members in our businesses.

It was in the year 2009 he thought of taking his business to next level. He visited some factories in China and bought doughnut, churros , popcorn making machines. He started new business model by renting out these for a day and made money out of those. So all those popcorn vendors you see Bangalore, most of them are employed by my father. They rent our machines for 1000 a day and they make profit around 500 everyday.

Coming back to the current situation, he is earning more than 8 lakhs per month and started paying taxes a few years back. My dad made me enroll in one of the top private BSchools in a dream that I will take his business to next level.

I know being with him will give me more knowledge than any MBA degree. '
